2025 York County Awards
York County Earns National First-Place Honor for Digital Innovation
York County has been awarded first place in the 2025 Digital Counties Survey for counties with populations up to 150,000.
The annual survey, conducted by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and Government Technology magazine in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo), recognizes counties that lead the way in leveraging technology to enhance public service, modernize operations, strengthen cybersecurity, and improve transparency.
York County received high marks for: •
- Best-in-class governance and data quality initiatives
- Integration of dashboards into planning and decision-making
- The digitization of over 1 million records using AI-based classification, advancing both transparency and scalability in public service delivery
Now in its 23rd year, the survey evaluates counties on their ability to align IT innovation with strategic priorities and deliver real-world impact.
“What makes this recognition truly meaningful is that it celebrates more than just IT—it celebrates the collaboration, innovation, and service mindset found throughout our entire County government,” said Tim Wyatt, Director of York County’s Information Technology Department.

NACo Achievement Award
York County is proud to announce that it has been nationally recognized for its innovation and service excellence by the National Association of Counties (NACo). At NACo’s 55th Annual Achievement Awards, York County received accolades for four outstanding programs:
- Back Creek Park Revitalization: This project expanded recreational amenities by adding 12 pickleball courts, an ADA-accessible kayak launch, and a new dog park, utilizing existing park space to meet the growing needs of the community.
- “Take 3 Steps to Save a Life” Initiative: This hands-only CPR education campaign, paired with the PulsePoint app, empowers the public to respond to cardiac emergencies and save lives.
- Re-Purpose and Re-Use of Former Youth Home as a Fire Station: By converting a closed youth facility into a fully operational fire station, this initiative saved millions of dollars and improved emergency response times in a rapidly growing area of the County.
- Herren Project Club After-School Program: This program provides teens with a safe space to learn about substance-free living, mental health, and peer support through engaging after-school activities.
These projects exemplify the creativity, dedication, and collaboration across various departments to deliver enhanced services, expand public safety, promote health and wellness, and reimagine the use of existing resources to meet community needs. Notably, the repurposing of the former youth home and the upgrades at Back Creek Park highlight how service delivery can be improved while increasing efficiency.
York County extends its heartfelt gratitude to all employees who contributed to these successful initiatives. Their hard work continues to enhance the lives of York County residents, and this national recognition is a testament to your efforts.
