Make Your Voice Heard: York County Board of Supervisors to hold public hearing on proposed changes to Home-based Business Ordinance

Public Hearing: June 18, 2024

Home-Based Business owners and operators are encouraged to:

  1. Review the proposed amendments (Pgs. 14-21)
  2. Email comments in advance or attend meeting to comment publicly

From 2019-2020, a group of residents and Home Based Business (HBB) owners served alongside County staff on a committee tasked with reviewing and suggesting improvements to the County’s outdated Home-based Business Ordinance. The committee proposed several changes intended to make it easier for HBBs to operate successfully in the County.

On January 13, 2021, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the committee’s proposed regulations. You can view the meeting minutes here. Unfortunately, the proposal was then put on hold, due to COVID and other unforeseen circumstances.

On June 4, 2024, the Board of Supervisors (BOS) resurrected the matter and heard a presentation on the proposed changes

The BOS will hold a public hearing on the changes at their June 18, 2024 meeting. HBB owners and operators are encouraged to show support by submitting comments via email in advance to the BOS, or attending the meeting to comment publicly. The public hearing will start at 7:00 pm - onsite registration is required to speak.
