[ARCHIVED] Yard Waste: What to do with it

This is an image of yard debris collection

Warmer weather brings more time outside working in the yard.  When cleaning up your yard, please make sure you’re disposing of yard waste properly.

  • Yard waste is not accepted in the curbside recycling program, and should never be placed in the recycling containers.
  • York County residents have the opportunity to schedule a yard debris collection for items such a limbs, branches and clear bags of natural yard waste.
  • The VPPSA Compost Facility will accept residential yard debris deliveries from residents for free.
  • Bagged yard debris, such as leaves, grass clippings and small pieces of yard debris can be disposed of in the curbside trash program.

Please visit www.yorkcounty.gov/wastemanagement for more information about what is/is not accepted in the recycling program.  Residents can call 757-890-3780 or enter a Customer Service Request to schedule a yard debris pickup.
