[ARCHIVED] We're celebrating with a Holiday Device Giveaway!

We're so excited that people are trying digital reading through our OverDrive collection! To encourage our community to download more digital titles, whether for the first time or more often, we're having a Holiday Device Giveaway for a Kindle Fire 7. Borrow an eBook or audiobook from our OverDrive collection between Dec. 1st and Dec. 20th, and you'll be automatically entered in the Holiday Device Giveaway.

"Downloadable eBooks and audiobooks are rising in popularity among York County Public Library customers," said Library Director Kevin Smith. "So far in 2018, we've seen a 26% increase in OverDrive digital checkouts over last year."

The library's OverDrive collection contains over 7,800 eBooks and audiobooks and is free for anyone with a valid York County Public Library card. Current popular titles include Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, The President is Missing by James Patterson and Bill Clinton, and The Reckoning by John Grisham. Users can borrow bestsellers and classic eBooks and audiobooks to enjoy on smart phones, tablets, Kindles, other eReaders, MP3 players, and computers. A variety of fiction and nonfiction titles are available for adults, teens, and children. There are never any late fees since digital titles return automatically at the end of the 14-day lending period. Readers can access the library’s digital collection 24/7 by visiting our OverDrive website or by downloading the Libby app from their device’s app store.

The Holiday Device Giveaway is open to patrons with a valid York County Public Library card. Each library cardholder is allowed to enter the giveaway once. The winner will be randomly selected in a drawing held on Friday, Dec. 21. If the winner does not respond to email/phone notification by Jan. 5, 2019, the winner will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected. Library employees are not eligible for the giveaway.

If you have questions or need assistance getting started with OverDrive, contact our Reference staff at 890-5120.
