[ARCHIVED] Vacuum System Temporary Disabling

This is an image of a vacuum pump system

York County Utilities Operations is responsible for operating and maintaining the county’s vacuum sanitary system. Although we do not anticipate widespread interruption of our sanitary sewer systems due to Hurricane Florence, certain portions of vacuum systems that are subject to tidal flooding will be temporarily disabled during periods of high tide/tidal flooding in low-lying areas (such as Dandy, Lower Dare, and York Point). Starting at the high tide cycle on Friday September 14 through at least the high tide cycle on Saturday September 15, applicable timeframe is approximately three hours duration. We do not expect residents to notice a marked change in service operation, however please refrain from extended periods of water use during this time. Avoid activities such as laundry, extended showers, etc. during the disabled timeframe.
