The grounds at Tabb High School are receiving some attention from the Grounds Maintenance Division of Department of Public Works. Over the summer, the tennis courts will be resurfaced, with a new sealcoating and fresh lines painted on the courts. The resurfacing will be complete in July.
Also taking place in 2018 on the high school grounds, 28 diseased Leyland Cyprus trees will be removed and replaced with new evergreens. It was discovered that the Leyland Cyprus trees are afflicted with bagworms, a common insect pest, and the infestation has progressed beyond the point of effective control. In a consolidated effort with York County School Division and York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, Public Works will remove the infested trees and coordinate replacement. We anticipate full removal of the Cyprus and installation of the replacement of the trees during the fall of 2018.
