[ARCHIVED] Septic Tank Reminder

This is an image of a septic tank

Most York County residences are connected to the County maintained sanitary sewer systems, but there are still some areas where sewer systems are not available.  These homes utilize septic tanks or pumping chambers that are an important part of the home sewage disposal system and should be maintained regularly.  York County guidelines state that these types of tanks are required to be inspected at least once every five years (and pumped if necessary), and that the receipt of inspection be provided to the Department of Public Works (DPW) for recording.   DPW encourages York citizens with septic tanks to review their inspection schedule and make arrangements for pump out if it is due.  For more information on this requirement, please contact Jennifer Wilson at jennifer.wilson@yorkcounty.gov, or call 757-890-3750.
