One of the most common questions our library staff receives about our OverDrive collection is:
I’ve never had a problem signing into my OverDrive account before. Why can’t I sign in now?
Our first suggestion is to check that you’ve entered your library card number correctly. Typos happen.
If you tried to sign in and received an error message that "privilege has expired," then your library card account has expired. Every two years we validate library cards to ensure that the cardholder is still an active user and that your email, mailing address and phone number are correct. You should have received an email from the library asking you to call or stop by and verify your information. Give our Circulation staff a call, 757-890-5130, and they’ll be glad to verify your information so you can access OverDrive.
If you tried to sign in and received a "library server message," it usually means your account has been blocked because of fines. Accounts are blocked if you have fines of $5 or more on your account. You can check this by signing into your library card account or by calling the Circulation Department at 757-890-5130.
