Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 18, for "An Afternoon with Tony Gabriele." Gabriele will speak about his book, English Major Finds Work (film at 11!) - The 'Get Serious' columns of Tony Gabriele. A lifelong newspaperman, Gabriele wrote the award-winning "Get Serious!" humor column for the Newport News Daily Press. His book is a collection of some of his favorite columns. Sponsored by the Library, "An Afternoon with Tony Gabriele" will be held from 1-2 p.m. at the Senior Center of York, located at 5314 George Washington Memorial Hwy. Gabriele began his newspaper career over 30 years ago, first with the Newport News Times-Herald and then with the Newport News Daily Press. He is also a self-employed historical interpreter who portrays Benjamin Franklin and other personages. Gabriele worked for 10 years with the Rainbow Puppets troupe of Hampton, performing in educational puppet shows. Active in community theater, Gabriele will appear December 12-22 in the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," at Williamsburg Players.
