The Tabb and Yorktown Libraries are now official drop off sites for the Trex Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge. Collection bins are located near the entry at both libraries. You can also deliver your clean, dry empty plastic bags and film packaging to the recycling center at 145 Goodwin Neck Road. Please do not place trash in these collection containers.
The Trex Company has hosted the Recycling Challenge since 2006 with the objective of educating communities on the importance of plastic film recycling. Trex donates a high-performance bench, created from recycled plastic bags and film, when a participating group collects more than 500 pounds of plastic refuse in a six-month collection period. That's about 40,500 plastic bags. So far, York County has received two benches. One is located at York High School and the other at York River Academy.
