[ARCHIVED] Pet Disaster Preparedness & Arson Prevention Event

Pet Disaster Preparedness

York County Department of Fire and Life Safety has joined the efforts of Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue in support of pet safety and readiness this summer. Newport News and Poquoson fire departments have also joined in. On Friday, June 28th from noon until 2:00 p.m. the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (PRAS) will host our peninsula fire departments for a Pet Disaster Preparedness and Arson Prevention Event. PRAS serves the communities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and York County.

Hurricane season is here, so it is essential to prepare our families (including the furry members) for unexpected situations. Please join us for a family-friendly event including free give-a-ways and an accelerant dog demonstration. Visitors are encouraged to tour this state-of-the-art facility that opened less than 5 years ago. While you’re there, be sure to enter to win a NOAA weather radio or disaster readiness kit! Members of local fire departments and shelter staff will be onsite to provide information and answer questions regarding keeping your pets happy, healthy, and prepared.
