Youth Basketball

Registration Dates - through December 14

Based on the current state guidelines, Parks and Recreation is preparing to offer its youth basketball program. We will modify our program based on the current state guidelines and adjust if they are changed. We feel that it is important to provide programs for our youth and ensure that they are conducted safely. Depending on guidelines and available facilities, there may be limited or no spectator seating.

To begin planning, we will take registration from November 23 through December 14 to set up teams and determine space needs. The tentative plan will be for practices to begin in January with league play to follow. To help us prepare, we are asking you to register, but no fees are due at this time. The program fees will be due within the first week of practice.

Thank you for your continued support of our programs, and we look forward to seeing you in our programs.

Eligibility

York County and non-county residents who are age 7-18 as of September 30, 2020, may participate. Children who are currently in the process of trying out for a school sport team, are encouraged to register. Refunds will be given to those children who make the school team.

Age Grouped Leagues (ages 7-18)

The leagues will be broken down as follows - 8 & Under Girls (8u); 8 & Under Boys (8u); 10 & Under Girls (10u); 10 & Under Boys (10u); 12 & Under Girls (12u); 12 & Under Boys (12u); 14 & Under Girls (14u); 14 & Under Boys (14u); 18 & Under Girl (18u); 18 & Under Boys (18u).  Players will be assigned to a league based on their age as of September 30, 2020.  This is the same date the schools use to determine “school age.”

Example:  Even though a child may have turned 11 years old on October 1, their league age for winter basketball would be 10 years old, since that was their age this past September 30.  As a result, they would register to play in the 10u Winter Basketball League.
Note: Children with a league age of 7 year olds may be registered in either 8u Winter Basketball League OR the "Start Smart" Instructional Program described below.

Program Dates

If there are enough participants, league dates would be January 5 through March 27, 2021.  Location, days of week, and times will vary depending on gym availability.
