York County offers support through grant and incentive award programs to help businesses achieve success along the path to realizing their full potential.
Home-Based Business Transition Grant Program
The purpose of this program is to encourage the growth and success of small home-based businesses located in York County by assisting them to transition to commercial locations. Matching grant funds, up to a maximum of $2,000 per business, can be awarded for such uses as the purchase of supplies, equipment, or inventory; down-payments toward the lease or purchase of commercial property; or marketing and promotion.
NxLevel Scholarship Program
The NxLevel Course is a 12-session national training program that helps entrepreneurs learn the skills needed to create and strengthen successful business ventures. To any York County business or citizen who successfully completes this course, the York County Economic Development Authority offers 50% matching scholarships up to $300.
E-Commerce Grant Program
The E-Commerce Grant Program was created to encourage York County businesses to create or enhance their online presence, a necessary step in today's business environment. Fifty percent matching grants, up to $500 per business or $1,000 for minority and women-owned businesses, are awarded for the design of a new or upgraded website.
Google Street View for Business Grant Program
The Google Street View for Business Grant Program was created to encourage York County businesses to get listed or update their Google business listing and to help them further enhance their listing by having an interior virtual tour posted online. Fifty percent matching grants, up to $500 per business, are provided towards the cost of having panoramic photos taken by a Google Trusted Photographer of the interior of a business location and posted on Google as a virtual tour, using Google's Street View platform.
Commercial Property Demolition Loan Program
The Commercial Demolition Program provides loans for reimbursement of costs of the demolition of qualified, underused commercial properties in order to help move these properties to the redevelopment market.
York County offers a variety of loans, grants, and land discounts to businesses in target industries such as defense contracting, software development, engineering, architectural services, and more. Target factors, among others, include environmentally friendly projects, business expansion and redevelopment of blighted property. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility and funding levels.
Launchpad: Greater Williamsburg Business Incubator
The three localities of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County have partnered together to form the Launchpad: Greater Williamsburg Business Incubator, located at 4345 New Town Avenue, Suite 200 in New Town.
