The Yorktown Arts Foundation and York County invite you to marvel at some pretty amazing talent on Sunday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., during the 7th annual Yorktown Art Stroll. The Yorktown Arts Foundation and York County invite you to once again celebrate Arts Month during its 7th Annual Yorktown Art Stroll.
Help us celebrate Arts Month by visiting with artists and learning more about their inspiration. Also, you can sit and watch as some of these talented people demonstrate their work in and around the Freight Shed at Riverwalk Landing. You’ll find a wide range of art for sale including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings; glass; drawings; photography; jewelry; pottery; painted furniture; fiber art; handmade soap and woodwork.
Be sure to make your way up to Main Street where On the Hill Gallery will be featuring a special display of new artists. Just down Main Street, at its intersection with Ballard Street, the Gallery at York Hall hosts Historian Chris Bonin who will be signing his book, “Virginia in the War of 1812,” from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests can enjoy a special musical performance from 12 to 4 p.m. by Audio Portrait, an acoustic harmony trio that covers songs from the ‘60s through today. Parents can also take advantage of a free craft for children to make and take home.
Many Historic Yorktown restaurants are open both during and after the event including Riverwalk Restaurant, Water Street Grille, Yorktown Pub, Ben & Jerry’s, and Larry’s. JB’ Italian Eatery and Carrot Tree will be open for breakfast and lunch, and Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters and Petite Café up on Main Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy an evening sunset sail on the York River with the Schooner Alliance following the conclusion of the event.
Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, County Administration Building, and other designated public parking lots. The Yorktown Trolley will start its run early that morning to provide complimentary service from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with several convenient stops throughout town. This event is held rain or shine.
This free event is jointly sponsored by the Yorktown Arts Foundation and York County. Special thanks to the York County Arts Commission for its sponsorship.
