New Quarter Park

Come to New Quarter Park

Hello All,

York County government offices and York-Poquoson courts are closed Friday, September 6, due to the potential for inclement weather from Hurricane Dorian. New Quarter Park, Back Creek Park, Kiln Creek Park, Charles Brown Park, and Wolf Trap Park will be closed on Friday, September 6th. Parking for vehicles, trailers, boats, RVs, etc. is available at the McReynolds Athletic Complex and Chisman Creek Park. In addition, the York County Public Libraries are closing at 6 p.m. this evening and will be closed tomorrow (Friday, 9/6). Both library branches - Tabb and Yorktown - will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The worst rains/wind will occur from rush hour tomorrow morning through the afternoon. The afternoon high tide (approx. 3 p.m.) has the most potential for flooding.

This weekend at the park
  • Saturday, September 7 - Hare and Tortoise 5K/8K Race. The race begins at 9 a.m. with packet pickup opening at 7:30 a.m. The race supports treatment and research for ovarian cancer.  The races, which started in 2009 have donated over $142,000 to help underwrite the Ovarian Cancer programs offered by the Lackey Free Clinic and the Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center for their patients. These programs provide patients with screening, treatment, and education about this lethal form of cancer. In November 2016 the coordinators of the race established The Ovarian Cancer Memorial Endowment Fund at the Williamsburg Community Foundation. Annually, the Race net income is deposited into the Endowment Fund and invested. As of January 2019, the value of the Endowment Fund including the 2018 Race net income of $20,000 had grown to $146,167.
