Shop Yorktown Market Days to Plan the Perfect Labor Day Cookout!
Tomorrow kicks off Labor Day Weekend! That means the unofficial end to summer and lots of celebratory cookouts. Whether you're hosting a backyard barbecue or packing a picnic for the beach, you'll want to stock up on fresh local produce at Saturday's Yorktown Market Days (open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m) to make your meals truly impressive. Parker Family Farm will have discounts on their chicken - perfect for the grill, Some Thins Potato Chips will be selling fresh batches of homemade chips already bagged up, and Blind Babe Bakery is bringing homemade hamburger buns, special for this market.
Plus, you can't beat all the fresh produce from our local farmers. We've pulled together just some of the highlights. Check us out on Facebook for the complete Farm Report posted every Friday.
Wilson's Farm: TJ and Doris are bringing corn (two for $1); watermelons ($4 each); fresh jarred foods; and will have a special on peaches at $1.50 per pound!
Terra Aqua Dynamics: Elisa and Julian are bringing onions and gourmet tomatoes (perfect additions to those awesome burgers) as well as both green and purple pole beans to whip up a delicious side.
Penn Farm: Fernando will also have the fixin's for your burgers as well as peaches, watermelons, raspberries, and blueberries for dessert, a fruit salad, or even a fun cocktail by the pool!
Allen's Farm: Brett says it may be the end of summer, but be on the lookout for a few fall specialty squashes such as acorns and cushaw and the first picking of the year of their sweet potatoes.
Grab a unique piece of art or fresh bunch of flowers for the host or hostess while you’re there. And enjoy live music from Tim Seaman on the Hammered Dulcimer while you shop!
