New Quarter Park

Come to New Quarter Park this Weekend

Hello All,

Come out to New Quarter Park this Saturday, February 23, and enjoy one or both of these two great morning programs!

  • Bird Walk, 8 to 10 a.m.:  For our energetic “early birds,” take part in this monthly outing led by the Williamsburg Bird Club.  The group will meet in the main parking lot by the office.  You can check out a FREE pair of binoculars in the office for use on the walk.

  • “Walk and Talk” Program:  “New Quarter Park’s Big Tree,” 10 a.m. to 12 noon: This is the park’s first “Walk and Talk” of the year, and will be starting Immediately after the Bird Walk.  New Quarter Park is home to some very large trees, and one remarkably large tulip poplar has been nominated for the Virginia Registry of Big Trees.  During the Walk & Talk,  Molly O’Liddy, the Community Forester with the Virginia Department of Forestry, will walk with participants to our “very big tree” and talk about how trees are measured for recognition. New Quarter Park’s big tree is more than 150 years old, which dates back to at least the 1860s!! Go to www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec to register for this FREE program.  For more information please call the Parks and Recreation office at 757-890-3500 or the New Quarter Park office at 757-890-5840.
