4-H Junior Summer Camp: Registration Opens Saturday, March 9th

4-H Junior Summer Camp (for youth ages 9-13) will be held August 5-August 9, 2019 at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center in Williamsburg. Registration will open at 9:00 a.m. on March 9, 2019 and will only be accepted via our online registration format. Please visit our website (https://www.yorkcounty.gov/952/Junior-Summer-Camp) to review registration instructions and frequently asked questions before March 9th. The cost to attend camp for 2019 is $305.00 per camper and financial assistance is available for youth with financial need. Call the Extension office at 757-890-4940 to obtain an application. A $90.00 deposit of the camp fee will be due to our office within two weeks after you complete your registration.

4-H District Contests: Show off your skills and talents!

Every year the 4-H programs in southeast VA host District Contests that allow youth ages 9-18 to demonstrate and practice their skills and talents. Contests are available in the areas of presentation, public speaking, talent, fashion (constructed or purchased outfits), and art. Any youth can enter the contests. This year’s contests will be held on March 9th from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm at the New Kent County Middle School. Youth that participate will be judged and receive award ribbons. They will also be entered into a raffle to win great prizes. Participants ages 14-18 can qualify to advance to the state level competitions held at 4-H State Congress in the summer. It’s a great opportunity for youth to develop presentation and public speaking skills and show off their talents! Registration forms are due to the York/Poquoson Extension Office by March 1st. A $5.00 registration fee will be collected from each participant on the day of the contests. For more information and registration materials call the Extension office at 757-890-4940.

Save the Date: 4-H State Congress June 24-27, 2019

4-H State Congress is a great opportunity for teens (any teen that will be 14 before September 30, 2019) to spend a week on the VT campus and attend a leadership development conference. Hundreds of teens from all over the state will be in attendance. While at congress, teens attend fun and educational workshops on skill development, leadership, and other topics. They also participate in tours and programs provided by various colleges at VT.  The evenings are full of fun activities such as dances, movies, cook-outs, etc. Registration information will come out in April 2019. Women's Wellness Weekend at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center:  June 7-9, 2019

Wishing for some downtime and a chance to relax and recharge? The perfect escape is closer than you think. Treat yourself to a weekend designed for women ages 18 and over. Enjoy wellness workshops led by professional speakers, as well as classic camp activities such as archery, crafts, canoeing and kayaking.
