York County Announces New Curbside Recycling Services Beginning January 2026
October 23, 2025
York County is pleased to announce that it has issued a Notice of Intent to Award for Curbside Trash and Recycling Services to BFI Waste Management Services LLC, doing business as Republic Services of Yorktown. Republic Services, a long-standing partner in the community, has provided curbside trash collection in York County for nearly 30 years.
Following a competitive procurement process and a thorough review of proposals, Republic Services was selected to continue as the County’s trash collection provider and to begin curbside recycling services starting in January 2026. The York County Board of Supervisors is expected to formally approve the contract at their November 18th meeting, paving the way for the return of this essential service.
“This is a significant step forward in restoring a service that our residents value deeply,” said Mark Bellamy, York County Administrator. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we worked to identify a long-term, sustainable solution for recycling in York County.”
Key Information for Residents:
- Recycling containers will not be collected from November 1 through December 31, 2025.
- Residents are asked to retain their current recycling containers during this period.
- Some residents may receive new or replacement containers before January; additional details will be shared in the coming weeks.
- A bi-weekly recycling collection schedule will be provided prior to the start of service.
York County remains committed to environmental stewardship and providing high-quality services to its residents. The return of curbside recycling reflects that commitment and the County’s ongoing efforts to meet the needs of the community.
