Community Resilience Workshop -Thursday, October 9, 2025

We are pleased to invite you to participate in a Community Resilience Workshop, aimed at helping York County better prepare for, respond to, and adapt to hazards and challenges, while also enhancing economic and social well-being.  You have been identified as a community leader in York County who will bring experience and knowledge to this effort, and we hope that you will join us at this important event, at which a broad range of stakeholders from state and federal agencies, local government, non-profit and civic organizations, local businesses, and individual community leaders will be represented. The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office at 159 Goodwin Neck Road in Yorktown.  

A previous workshop was held on August 18 and included community leaders from James City County, York County, and the City of Williamsburg. Building on the success of that workshop, this second workshop will focus on York County and will be hosted by the RAFT (Resilience Adaptation Feasibility Tool) team at the Institute for Coastal Adaptation & Resilience - Old Dominion University, with the support of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission. The event will be interactive, with you and other community stakeholders working together to identify opportunities and specific resilience priorities for implementation over the next year. We will facilitate the workshop with the end goal of developing a Resilience Action Checklist (RAC) that will guide us as we assist York County with the implementation of your priorities over the next 12 months.
