 Hosted by Yorktown Market Days

LOVE letters

August 27, 2025

A new season is upon us, and Yorktown is celebrating with six themed Market Days in September, October, and November for the community to enjoy for FREE: First Responders Market, Fall Festival, Victory Market, Paws at the River, Maritime Festival, and the Harvest Festival.

More than 60 vendors, artists, and food trucks will participate in these events. Shoppers can purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meats, dairy products, baked goods, wine, soaps, candles, and much more. Talented artisans will also be showcasing stained glass, woodworking, paintings, and custom jewelry.

First Responders Market
Saturday, September 6 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This market salutes the firefighters, sheriff's deputies, 911 and emergency communications dispatchers, public works personnel, and other first responders who protect the community every day. Stop by the First Responders Market and let them know how much they are appreciated.

A number of emergency vehicles and personnel will be on-site to educate the public and answer questions. Check out the York County Fire & Life Safety Safe House; York County Public Works’ Vactor Truck; the Naval Weapons Station Bomb Squad; and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office patrol car and motorcycle, Crime Prevention Trailer, and K-9 unit. A balloon artist will also be on hand to entertain the kids.

Fall Festival
Saturday, October 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the Fall Festival, guests will have the opportunity to purchase seasonal art and tasty treats like pumpkins, apples, and baked goods. Visitors can participate in several family-oriented activities: face painting, balloon artist, hay maze, a petting zoo featuring miniature animals, and pumpkin painting. We’ll also have a roving magician performing feats of wonder. This popular trick-or-treating event will feature several Yorktown businesses, so tell the youngsters to wear a costume! A map will be posted online and also available on-site.

Returning this year will be a pumpkin painting and carving competition for elementary school children. Details and registration information will be posted online at visityorktown.org. Carrot Tree Kitchens will be selling its famous caramel apples and apple cider, and DJ Ben Herrick will play music on the Riverwalk Landing Stage from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Victory Market
Saturday, October 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

To celebrate Yorktown Day (October 19), Yorktown Market Days is bringing back the Victory Market. Guests will be able to shop from a variety of vendors selling patriotic art, jewelry, local produce, and seasonal goods. The event will feature George Washington’s Dog Storytime at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Corey Pavlovsky will perform on the Riverwalk Landing Stage from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Paws at the River

Paws at the River
Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Paws at the River brings awareness to animal rescue organizations and helps place adoptable pets in their “furever” homes. You're sure to have a doggone good time as the market extends to Riverwalk Landing businesses, where visitors will find information booths and other educational opportunities. Purchase doggy delights from FiDough Homemade Dog Treats at the market or Gangsta Dog.

Staff will snap free photos of visitors and their canine companions (uploaded to Visit Yorktown on Facebook) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Your pet’s photo will automatically be entered in a pet costume contest with the winning entry receiving a prize from local businesses! Be sure to have the kids wear their costumes for trick-or-treating at area businesses. They'll also enjoy the craft station where they can decorate a bandana for their dog. K-9 Ghost of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office will be on hand for meet and greets, while Phil Poteat performs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Riverwalk Landing Stage. We’ll also have a Guess the Pet game and a dog treat demonstration with Gangsta Dog at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Maritime Festival
Saturday and Sunday, November 8 & 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event is sure to float your boat! Visitors to the Maritime Festival can enjoy an entire weekend dedicated to celebrating everything there is to love about our waterfront locale! Sample some of the best local and seasonal seafood including clam chowder, Virginia blue crabs, and oysters. Guests can also shop for nautical-inspired art and jewelry.

Pirates from The Loose Cannon Company will invade the waterfront to talk to kids about seafaring life, and educational information will be available for mariners of all ages. The Clan MacCool Band will perform live sea shanties on the Riverwalk Landing Stage from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Enjoy children’s crafts, blacksmith demonstrations, and a balloon artist.

Harvest Festival
Saturday, November 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You’ll be grateful for this autumn extravaganza! During the Harvest Festival, kids young and old will be able to engage in fall festivities that include a live animal show, petting zoo, hayrides, inflatable axe throwing, balloon art, a pie-eating contest, and kids’ crafts and activities. For a fun photo opportunity, visitors can make a personalized leaf to decorate the famous LOVE Letters on the waterfront.

The Virginia Living Museum’s Animal Friends Show will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Yorktown Freight Shed, and Ralph Motley and the Last Minute Grass will perform bluegrass music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Riverwalk Landing Stage.

Guests of all ages can participate in the Guess the Weight of the Giant Pumpkin challenge. Stop by the table near the Visit Yorktown booth to examine the plump pumpkin and enter your best guess. The person with the closest estimate, without going over, will win some goodies from various market vendors. Visitors will also be able to purchase traditional holiday foods like turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. Additionally, local jewelers, artists, and photographers will be selling their holiday handiwork.
