RAFT Announces Free Community Resilience Workshop for Historic Triangle Residents

August 7, 2025

The Resilience Adaptation Feasibility Tool (RAFT) team invites all residents of the Historic Triangle — including Williamsburg, York County, and James City County — to participate in a free Community Resilience Workshop on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center, located at 5301 Longhill Road, Williamsburg.
This interactive workshop will help attendees understand the region’s resilience strengths and challenges, and work together to identify priority actions that can be implemented over the next year to improve community preparedness and adaptability.
The workshop is part of a year-long, three-step process facilitated by the RAFT leadership team, which includes faculty and staff from the University of Virginia, Old Dominion University,  William & Mary Law School, and Virginia Tech. Through this process, RAFT provides each locality with an independent resilience assessment, facilitates a collaborative workshop to develop an action checklist, and supports follow-up efforts to implement those actions.
The program is made possible through a combination of federal, state, and private foundation grants, along with donated services, and is offered at no cost to participants.
