York Hall

Memorial Day Ceremony
The public is invited to attend the York County Memorial Day Ceremony at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 26. The event will take place on the lawn of York Hall. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors. Just prior to the start of the ceremony, The Fifes and Drums of York Town will march to York Hall. The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, a wreath laying, and a keynote address by Dr. Edward Boston of New Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown. For more information, visit the Historical Committee webpage here.

FREE Door Scope Viewers for Senior Citizens
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is offering a FREE home safety program for York County and Poquoson senior citizens! Through this initiative, eligible seniors can receive and have installed a Door Scope Viewer—a wide-angle peephole designed to help residents safely see who is at their door without opening it. This program is part of our continued commitment to helping our older residents feel safe, secure, and supported in their homes. For more information or to sign up, please call 757-890-3639.

Help WATA Name its New Transfer Station
WATA is continuing to seek public input for the name of its new transfer center in the northern part of the County. The new transfer center, expected to be completed in Fall 2026, will provide amenities needed for both riders and bus operators, including indoor and outdoor waiting areas, a customer service center, bus information display screens, public restrooms, and six bus bays, allowing for future service expansion. The survey will be open until Monday, June 16. Submit your suggestions here.

Additional Notes for the Week . . . The Tabb and Yorktown Libraries will be closed on Friday, May 30 for staff training.
