York County Board of Supervisors Adopts FY 2026 Budget

May 7, 2025

On May 6, 2025, the York County Board of Supervisors formally adopted the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget, totaling $291.6 million across all funds. The adopted budget reflects the County’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality public services while responsibly managing financial resources and addressing critical needs across the community.
The Board approved a 4-cent increase in the 2025 calendar year Real Estate Tax rate to $0.78 per $100 of assessed value, and a 20-cent increase in the Personal Property Tax rate to $4.00 per $100.  These adjustments, including the first real estate tax rate increase in nine years, are necessary to support essential services amid rising costs and continued economic uncertainty.
York County Administrator Mark Bellamy expressed gratitude to both the community and the Board for their collaboration and engagement throughout the months-long budget development process.
“I want to thank the many residents who engaged with us during this year’s budget process. Your input and participation were invaluable,” said Mr. Bellamy. “I also extend my sincere appreciation to the Board of Supervisors for their thorough review and commitment to responsible financial stewardship. Together, we have crafted a budget that addresses our community’s needs while maintaining the County’s long-term fiscal health.”
The FY 2026 adopted budget prioritizes investments in core services and long-term community needs. It includes funding to support employee compensation, strengthen public safety—including the addition of five new Sheriff’s deputy positions—and enhance operational capacity across County departments. The County has increased local operating support for York County Schools and committed funds to the Tabb High School capital improvement project—reinforcing its dedication to educational excellence. Additional resources will support infrastructure upgrades, regional partnerships, and essential services that contribute to the quality of life for all York County residents.
