Listening Sessions for the Proposed Budget
At Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting, County Administrator Mark Bellamy presented his proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. Additional work sessions and feedback are the next steps in the process. Citizens are encouraged to attend upcoming listening sessions, March 25 at Griffin-Yeates Center and April 3 at the Law Enforcement Building, both scheduled for 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The proposed Budget and Capital Improvements Program are available to review online along with other important dates and FAQ’s. The budget is scheduled for adoption at the May 6 meeting.

Public Meeting to Discuss Updating Guidelines 
The York County Planning Division is asking for citizen input on updating the Historic Yorktown Design Guidelines. A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday March 26, 6:00 pm in the Freight Shed. This is open to the public and feedback is welcome. For questions contact planning@yorkcounty.gov or call (757) 890-3404.  

Also in Historic Yorktown…. VDOT began trimming trees in Historic Yorktown this week in preparation for road paving.  The paving project includes all roads in Historic Yorktown, from Water Street to the Coast Guard base. The work on Main St. has been completed. Now tree trimming crews are working on Ballard, Church, Read, Nelson, Smith, and Bacon Street. 

Distinguished Business Affair winners

And the Award Goes to….
Two local companies accepted awards for their community and economic impact at York County’s annual Distinguished Business Affair. New senior living community Harper’s Station received the 2025 Distinguished Business Award, given each year by York County’s Economic Development Authority and Department of Economic and Tourism Development to honor growing businesses that make significant investments in the County.  Collision Correction was named the York County Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year.

All Aboard…Yorktown Trolley Resumes Daily Service 
The Yorktown Trolley is back in action daily beginning today, Friday, March 21, operating from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free air-conditioned (and heated) Trolley is one of the best ways to see Historic Yorktown, especially during peak tourist season or special events. Each Trolley is ADA accessible, and you can track the Trolley in real-time using the ETA SPOT app (Android / iPhone). So park, hop aboard, and leave the driving to us!

Start Your Saturday Shopping at the Waterfront
Join us at Riverwalk Landing for another Yorktown Market Days’ Winter Market from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. Shop your favorite vendors and artists selling locally grown, produced, and crafted products. In the case of inclement weather, the market will move to the lower level of the Water Street Parking Terrace. The free, heated Yorktown Trolley will be running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during this event.

Get Your Clean-up Team Ready 
The Great American Cleanup is a perfect opportunity to transform your neighborhood and community into a beautiful, healthy space. The Hampton Roads “Team Up 2 Clean Up” program is always available, but during this annual Great American Cleanup event, we encourage you to be a part of the transformation that takes place all across Hampton Roads!  The 2025 cleanup events will take place Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29. Free supplies from York County Waste Management are included. Registration on askHRgreen.org closes on March 26. Sign up now!
