First Stop for the Holiday Weekend – Market Days It’ll be all red, white, and blue at tomorrow’s (7/1) market at Riverwalk Landing 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. You’ll be sure to find what you need from the 50 vendors selling something for everyone: seasonal produce, BBQ sauce, sweet treats, beverages, seafood, and more. Don’t miss the chance to purchase holiday-inspired jewelry or home décor.

Spend July 4th in Yorktown – Where Independence Was Won! The Insider's Guide includes everything you need to know about the schedule of events and activities. Read here for street closures and important traffic alerts before you go. The team at Visit Yorktown will be flooding their Facebook and Instagram feeds with traffic, weather, and other event updates throughout the day. Here are some highlights: In the Morning you can Follow in the Footsteps of Heroes by participating in the live or virtual 8K/5K Run/Walk. Click here to sign up. Then Wave that Red, White & Blue at the Patriotic Parade starting at 9 a.m. between Water, Ballard & Main Streets. Don’t miss the Fun Before the Fireworks with Food Trucks, Games, Hot Dog Eating Contest, Live Music & Family Fun all along Riverwalk Landing starting at 1 p.m. Parking Opens at 4 p.m. on the battlefields thanks to the National Park Service. Evening Activities kick-off at 7 p.m. with a performance from the Fifes and Drums of York Town, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, the Sounds of Liberty Bell Ringing Ceremony, and the Super Jazz Band Concert featuring Conni Ironmonger. And The Grande Finale! Fireworks over the York River around 9:15 p.m. with great viewing all along Yorktown Beach & the Victory Monument. Recycling Collection Delayed by July 4th Holiday; Garbage on Schedule If your garbage collection day is Tuesday, be sure to place your container at the roadside by 7 a.m. on the 4th of July, since garbage pickup is not affected by the holiday. However, recycling scheduled for Tuesday will not be picked up and is delayed one day until all routes are completed on Saturday, July 8. Citizens needing assistance are reminded to submit requests via the Customer Service Request Portal. Here’s What’s Happening . . . After the 4th- Household Chemical Collection, Computer Recycling, and Paper Shredding is Saturday, July 8, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 105 Service Drive. These services are free. Look for more information on the Waste Management website, including accepted materials.
- Sounds of Summer Concert Series Resumes July 13
After a week break, the concert series returns on Thursday, July 13 featuring the high-energy horn band Brasswind! Every Thursday, 6:30 to 9 p.m. through August. - Board of Supervisors will meet only once in July due to the holiday. The next meeting is Tuesday, July 18, 6 p.m., at York Hall. Look for the agenda to be posted online the Thursday before.
