Come to New Quarter Park
Summer is just days away, but are you and your family still looking for fun weekend plans together? Join us at New Quarter Park on the second and fourth Fridays of June, July, and August for exciting opportunities! In June, we will offer an instructional guide to birdwatching on June 9, learning from the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences (V.I.M.S.) about the keystone species of the Chesapeake Bay: Oysters on June 23! Both programs are free and open to the public, with limited space. Register now and come out and join in on the fun! New Quarter Park has several exciting Walk and Talk programs scheduled in June. Join us for these free guided walks as we explore New Quarter and learn about a unique feature found in the park. On June 17, we will learn about the snakes in our park from a local biologist. On June 24, Dr. Lockwood of William & Mary will speak to us about the fossils in the park. Both programs are free and open to the public, with limited space. Don’t wait to register! Do you like popcorn and watching movies? We do! York County Parks and Recreation will show Disney’s Strange World at Charles Brown Park on June 3. Concessions will be available for sale, along with free popcorn. The movie will begin approximately 15 minutes after sunset. We recommend everyone bring camping chairs and/or blankets. This event will be weather permitting. Check RainoutLine for updates. NOTE: For weather-related cancellations, please call our RainoutLine at 757-890-3501 and use extension 35 for events, extension 34 for the disc golf course, or extension 33 for trails at New Quarter Park.
