Ninety percent of all natural disasters in the United States involve some type of flooding, and where it can rain, it can flood. These and other facts are available on the GetFloodFluent.org website, where residents may also utilize the Flood Risk Caculator to determine what is needed to insure home and property. Remember, most flood insurance policies require 30 days to take effect.
Upcoming Library Programs for Adults
Celebrate National Bike Month by learning how to maintain your own ride during the Basic Bike Repair & Maintenance program on Sunday (5/21), 1:30 p.m., at Tabb Library. Adults are welcome to bring teens and youth interested in learning bike basics. Please do not bring personal bicycles! Next Wednesday (5/24), establish or deepen your mindfulness and meditation practice during the Meditation Series from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at Tabb Library with a certified instructor. Finally, visit Yorktown Library Saturday, May 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. to Meet Your Maker(space) and learn more about the library’s Glowforge.
Additional Notes for the Week…Movies in the Park is at the McReynolds Athletic Complex (MAC) tomorrow (5/20) at sunset and features Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating to this free event. Concessions available for purchase. In case of bad weather, call the rainout line at 757-890-3501, ext. 10. New Quarter Park bird walks are held the 4th Saturday of every month and hosted by the Williamsburg Bird Club. Next bird walk is May 27. Check in at the park office to join the group.
