Come to New Quarter Park
With the warm weather comes great opportunities to go hiking at New Quarter Park. If you don’t like hiking alone or like to learn new things, we have the perfect opportunity for you. New Quarter Park is offering three FREE mornings guided hikes this spring. Come out on April 15 to learn how spring weather affects the park’s ecosystem. Join us on April 30 for a chance to relax, get loose, and be silly with our Resilience Week Fun Walk. Finally, march out to New Quarter Park on May 6 to learn the part the park played in the Battle of Williamsburg! All of our guided hikes are free! You and your family will not find a better way to enjoy a hike together. The final Weekend On Your Wheels Youth Bike Race is upon us! Registration is open and filling up for our last race on April 16. All registered participants will check in at the Overflow Parking lot starting at noon. The first race kicks off at 1 pm. Races are open to all youth between the ages of 3 and 17 years old and can be completed by anyone, regardless of skill level. Registration is required to partake in this event. Pre-registration is preferred, but on-site registration is available. Star Light, Star Bright, How Many Stars Can You See in the Night? The Langley NASA Sky Watchers are returning to New Quarter Park on Friday, April 28, to show [ark visitors of all ages the night sky. Come out and learn what galaxies, planets, and constellations are visible in the evening sky this spring. This FREE event will run from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. There is limited space, so please register by April 26. This event is weather permitted. Check the RainoutLine for updates. Do you like movies? We do! York County Parks and Recreation will kick off this year’s Movies in the Park on April 29 at New Quarter Park. Join us as we kick back, relax, and watch FernGully: The Last Rainforest! There will be select concessions for sale and free popcorn. The movie will begin approximately 15 minutes after sunset. We recommend everyone bring camping chairs and blankets.
