Immerse yourself in French fare and flare during Yorktown’s annual Sister Cities French Market on Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this exquisite event, celebrate the spirit of the Saturday market in Port-Vendres, Yorktown’s sister city since 1990.
Shop for produce, baked goods, and art; enjoy French music; purchase traditional products; and dine on French crepes, Parisian-style macarons, chocolates, fresh-baked breads and pastries, and authentic beignets. You can also sample French wine, or buy a glass, or take home a bottle of French wine in the Wine Garden.
A silent auction is planned and visitors will have the opportunity to bid on fine items like a three-night stay in Asheville, N.C., a wine class tasting, or a round of golf at Kingsmill Resort, just to name a few.
Yorktown Market Days has been serving the Peninsula for more than 15 years and is one of the most unique in Tidewater, offering spectacular views of the York River, a variety of vendors and artists, food trucks, and live entertainment on select weeks. Markets are held weekly on Saturdays through the end of October, rain or shine, with the exceptions of May 6 and October 7.
Several special themed markets include additional fun such as live trade demonstrations, educational programming, performances by the Fifes and Drums of York Town, and family photo opportunities. Highlights include the Pirate Invasion Market, Vintage Market, Fun in the Sun Market, First Responders Markets, Fall Festival, Harvest Festival, and Paws at the River.
Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, and several other public parking lots. The complimentary, wheelchair-accessible Yorktown Trolley begins its service at 10 a.m. on Market Days and makes several stops throughout Historic Yorktown.
