Free Children’s Book Program Coming to York County Public Library

York County Public Library, in partnership with the DeGood Foundation, is now registering children ages 0-5 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at the Tabb branch and the Yorktown branch (when it reopens).  Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book-gifting program where children will receive a free brand-new, age-appropriate book in the mail every month from the time they’re born until they start Kindergarten at age 5. The Imagination Library inspires a love of books, reading, and learning within the hearts and minds of children while preparing them for Kindergarten and beyond.  For more information on how to register, visit the York County Public Library’s website.

Take a Field Trip to Historic Yorktown!

Begin your day tomorrow (3/4) by strolling through the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown for an engaging scavenger hunt to find portraits of historical figures and artifacts from long ago. Visit Yorktown has compiled a list of must-see/do films, galleries, and displays for you (and your kids) to look for at the Museum, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Remember, admission is free to York County residents.  If you’re done before 2 p.m., take the Yorktown Trolley to Yorktown Market Days and check out the fresh produce from local farmers, sweets from irresistible bakers, and handiwork from talented artists. Our newest vendor, Ulla’s European Delights, will be selling scratch-made German and French pastries. The farmers market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
