Three Fall Yorktown Markets Provide a Little Fun
(and Character) for Everyone

Whether you’re in the market for vintage goods, beach-themed items or holiday food and décor, Yorktown has three intriguing events on the horizon in November that you’re sure to enjoy.

Vintage Market

If you like restoring old furniture, shopping for vintage clothing or filling your home with one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces—you don’t want to miss York County’s Vintage Market! The market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 at the McReynolds Athletic Complex (MAC), located at 412 Sports Way in Yorktown.
Village Events has an exciting lineup of 40 local vendors and artists who will be selling everything from crafts, repurposed items and clothing to toys, collectibles and wood art.
Members of the Classic Cruisers Car Club will have some vintage vehicles on display, including a ’40 Ford Coupe, ’49 Ford Sedan, ’57 Chevy Nomad Station Wagon, ’57 Ford Ranchero and ’95 Ford Mustang GTS.
Live entertainment will be provided by Phil Poteat beginning at 10 a.m. Kathi’s Clam Chowder, Coastal Thirst and Pop’s Kettle Corn will be serving lunch and snacks throughout the day.
Please remember, the MAC is a non-smoking facility. Service pets only.
For added convenience, the Yorktown Trolley will be in service from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to shuttle customers and their purchases to and from their vehicles.

Maritime Festival

This event is sure to float a water-lover’s boat. During the Maritime Festival, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, at Riverwalk Landing, children can join buccaneers for a live sea shanties singalong, make crafts for their “mateys” or get their face painted. 
Visitors can also observe blacksmith and colonial reenactments throughout the day; sample some of the best seafood in the area, including oysters, lobster rolls and shrimp; or shop for nautical-inspired art and jewelry.
Three additional engaging and educational activities will be occurring from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

• Stop by the History Fair inside the Freight Shed to hear the untold stories of Yorktown.
• Meet Larry Chowning, author of 11 boat-related books including Deadrise and Cross-planked, also in the Freight Shed.
• Cruise over to the Riverwalk Landing Piers for workboat displays and tours.

At 12 p.m. join us for the Yorktown Tea Party Reenactment at the waterfront. The Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform at 10 a.m. 

Harvest Festival

Kids young and old will enjoy this autumn extravaganza, which features a live animal show, petting zoo, log carving demonstration, balloon art, inflatable axe throwing and a pie eating contest. It all happens at the Harvest Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 19, at Riverwalk Landing.
Market vendors will be selling the traditional foods you need to make your Thanksgiving a tasteful and unforgettable event. Purchase holiday meal staples like turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, cornbread, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie. Local jewelry makers, painters and photographers will also be displaying (and selling) their holiday handiwork.
Enjoy bluegrass music from Ralph Motley and the Last Minute Grass or catch the Fifes and Drums of York Town. The Virginia Living Museum will present the live animal show inside the Freight Shed at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
 
Admission and parking for all events is free. During the Maritime and Harvest Markets, limited parking is available at the two-level parking terrace on Water Street. If you park on the outskirts of town, up at the Courthouse or County Admin Building, you can ride the free Yorktown Trolley down the hill. The Trolley runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
