Voter Notices Arriving Soon; Early Voting Starts September 23 The Department of Elections is mailing notices to all York County voters on or about September 21, with voters’ new election districts as well as information about precincts and polling places. Early voting begins Friday, September 23. Vote by mail, or in person at the Registrar’s locations in the Washington Square (Route 17) and Victory Village (Mooretown Road) shopping centers, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Early voting is available through November 5; Election Day is November 8. For complete election details, visit the Voter Registration website.
If you receive a notice for a voter who no longer lives at your address, please write “Return to Sender” on the notice and place it back in your mail box. This helps maintain accurate voter registration lists.

Tickets Now on Sale for Wine Festival!
Whether you consider yourself a wine connoisseur or an aspiring novice, don’t miss Yorktown’s annual Wine Festival featuring some of the best vinos on Saturday, October 1. From 12 to 6 p.m., ticket holders will sample some of Virginia’s finest from more than a dozen wineries. Rieslings and Gewürztraminers from Germany and bubbly from France are also on the menu. Delicious dishes from local restaurants will be available for purchase. Enjoy the sounds of the Mike Proffitt Band and Brasswind throughout the day. Yorktown Art Stroll is Sunday, September 25
Talented artists showcase their work along Water Street next Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Items will be on display for visitors to admire and purchase, including paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, and more. This free event features entertainment by Audio Portrait (acoustical harmony) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is presented by the Yorktown Arts Foundation and York County, with support from the York County Arts Commission. 6th Annual Soirée en Blanc Returns
Sister Cities Yorktown is holding its sixth annual “Dinner in White” on Wednesday, September 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. The dinner is held indoors, but the location is kept a secret until two days before, and that’s part of the fun! Ticket holders will be notified of the location by email. Proceeds benefit Sister Cities Yorktown’s exchange program, as well as educational and cultural events. Popular Fall Plant Sale Coming Up
Did you know that in the fall, the combination of warm soils and mild weather creates ideal conditions for newly planted trees, shrubs, and perennials? It’s true! With that in mind….the York/Poquoson Master Gardeners are hosting the annual plant sale next Saturday (9/24) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Poquoson Learning Garden (968 Poquoson Avenue)! Cash and checks are accepted at this event that features perennials, native plants, shrubs, and trees. Proceeds are used to maintain and expand the learning garden.

Visit Colonial National Historical Park Free September 24
Every year on the fourth Saturday in September, the National Park Service celebrates Public Lands Day with free admission to all their parks. National Public Lands Day recognizes the connection between people and the green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits. Locally, the Colonial National Historical Park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Certain National Parks have volunteer opportunities available. Search for one online. Be sure to #RecreateResponsibly and share your fun on social media using that hashtag along with #NPLD.
Additional Notes for the Week…Rhythms on the Riverwalk continues Thursday (9/22) with Blue Tips Rhythm Revue! Showtime is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating and consider arriving early to grab a bite at one of Yorktown’s restaurants. Yorktown Market Days is tomorrow (9/17) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Chocolates, coffees, pies, meats/seafood, original artwork, fresh flowers, and more will be available for purchase. The Home-based Business Conference returns October 7 with an all-day, in-person event packed with resources and educational opportunities for home-based business owners and entrepreneurs interested in getting started.
