Stop by New Quarter ParkWith summer winding down, join us for some end-of-summer fun at New Quarter Park. Every Friday evening, we offer programs for the whole family to enjoy together. Join us for different activities, from night hikes to knot tying and fireside cooking. There is something for everyone to enjoy. New Quarter Park will provide three opportunities to learn about the park’s natural history this month. Join us on Saturday, August 13, as we explore and learn about the insects found throughout the park at 10 am. On August 26, we will learn about the trees in Virginia, starting at 6:30 pm. Come on August 27 for our monthly Bird Walk with the Williamsburg Bird Club at 8 am. Online registration is available for all of these free programs. Please register in advance if possible or visit the park office to register before attending the program. For this month only, all the youth of York County are invited to come to New Quarter Park and play Disc Golf for free! ID will be required for high school students. Registration is still required in our Park Office. If you are interested in playing but don’t know how we will be offering a free Disc Golf Clinic on August 20. In addition, we are holding a Parent & Child Doubles Disc Golf Tournament for families to play together while competing against other families. Come out on August 27 at 9 am and have fun with your family while also experiencing New Quarter Park in a new way. If you do not have discs to use, stop by our office, we have several available for families to rent out or purchase! For more information on our upcoming programs and to register, visit our website www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec.
