Diabetes Self-Management Workshop Offered
with Social Distancing
Are you a person a living with diabetes or know someone who is? Learn to manage your diabetes and meet others going through similar experiences in this six-week workshop series. The free program which includes materials will be held at the Senior Center of York on Tuesdays, beginning October 20 through November 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Diabetes Self-Management Program was devised through research performed by the School of Medicine at Stanford University and is shown to be effective in improving diabetes management. Sessions are interactive and teach the skills needed for day to day management of diabetes. Information on preventing complications, menu planning, monitoring blood sugar levels, stress, exercise and relaxation are just a few of the topics that will be covered. The companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions accompanies and supplements the material presented in the workshop.
Participants will be socially distanced and required to wear a mask. Temperature checks and wellness surveys will be conducted before entering the workshop. The program is co-sponsored by the Peninsula Agency. The Senior Center of York is located at 5314 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown.
