Tropical Storm Isaias Update 4

Isaias has moved through our area after bringing down several trees and leaving many citizens in the dark. As of 9 a.m., approximately 35 trees were reported down, with six of them in structures, resulting in varying degrees of damage.
Later this afternoon, York County will stand down from its emergency storm response mode, but will follow-up with those situations that caused property damage.
Debris Pickup
The County is offering free storm-debris pickup to those residents who submit a collection request by close of business Tuesday, August 11. Collection requests may be made online at www.yorkcounty.gov/requests or by calling (757) 890-3780. When on the request site, residents should create an account to easily track the status of their request and also so that staff can contact them, if necessary.
Vehicles Moved to Chisman Creek Park and McReynolds Athletic Complex
Residents of low-lying areas who moved their boats, trailers, campers, etc. to either the McReynolds Athletic Complex or Chisman Creek Park are asked to remove their vehicles by Wednesday evening (August 5).
Tuesday Trash/Recycling Collections Cancelled
As a reminder, Tuesday trash collections were cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday, August 8. Recycling collection also was cancelled and pickups are delayed to the following day (Tuesday collections moved to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, and so on) through Saturday.
County Offices Closed Tuesday, Return to COVID-19 Operating Status Wednesday; Libraries Reopen Wednesday
York County employees will be back at work tomorrow under our COVID-19 operating status. And the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries will reopen tomorrow morning after having been closed for several months.
Riverwalk Landing Amenities Closed Today
Many businesses in Riverwalk Landing and Historic area are closed today; the fishing pier, boat docks, and Beach Picnic Area are closed; and Trolley service is suspending today. Information about these Riverwalk Landing closures is available at www.VisitYorktown.org. Operations are expected to return to normal on Wednesday.
Board of Supervisors Work Session Cancelled
The Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for this evening has been cancelled and agenda items requiring Board action will be moved to the August 18 meeting.
