Recycling Challenge

Plastic Bag Recycling

Did You Know??? Plastics (grocery bags and other single use plastics like paper towel/toilet paper package wrappers, the name brand label around water bottles) are used to make furniture such as benches?

York County needs your help collecting these plastics for The Trex Company recycling challenge.

If we can collect 500 pounds of these plastics, Trex Company will give us a free bench! Bring your plastics to the Waste Management Center, 145 Goodwin Neck Road, or to either of our York County Public Library branches (Yorktown and Tabb) and help us reach our goal.

Other items we need to collect (clean, dry and free of residue, please) include:

  • bread bags
  • case overwraps (like cases of water)
  • dry cleaning bags
  • newspaper sleeves
  • ice bags
  • wood pellet bags (clean of all debris)
  • ziploc and other reclosable bags
  • produce bags
  • bubble wrap
  • salt bags
  • cereal bags
