Registration is now open for the 25th Horticultural Extravaganza, Saturday, March 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Tabb High School, 4431 Big Bethel Road. This year’s keynote speaker is Bryce Lane, host of the Emmy award winning UNC TV show “In the Garden with Bryce Lane.” Each year, the Horticultural Extravaganza provides educational classes for both beginning and more experienced gardeners. Vendors, exhibitors, and more are included in this event.
Register before February 1 and pay only $20; registrations made after that date cost $25. Lunch is included in the registration fee. However, the cost is $10 if you wish to attend Mr. Lane’s presentation only. The deadline to register is Friday, February 15.

Virginia Cooperative Extension and the York County Public Library are partnering to bring Master Gardeners to the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries this year. The “Mastering Your Garden” series will feature a variety of weekend gardening seminars for every interest and experience level. Coming up during these first few months of 2019 are:
Winter Pruning Tips – Saturday, January 12, 2 to 4 p.m. at Tabb Library: Become pruning confident in this free seminar with Master Gardener Mary Boxer. Learn the safe and proper use of pruning tools to improve the health, longevity, and appearance of plants, ornamental shrubs, and trees.
Starting from Seed – Sunday, February 10, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Tabb Library: Join Master Gardener Nate Brauner to learn some easy techniques and secrets to growing your own flowers, vegetables, and favorite plants from seed at home.
Growing Vegetables – Saturday, February 16, 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Yorktown Library: Master Gardener Phil Leatherbury will teach you how to sharpen and care for your garden tools.
