On Wednesday, November 7th, the York County Beautification Committee hosted the 4th Quarter 2018 Virginia Peninsula Clean Business Forum. Representatives from Hampton, Newport News, and James City County joined the committee to share ideas, best practices, and new thoughts on keeping our cities and counties clean and beautiful. The emcee for the event was Thomas "Mace" Langston, Beautification Committee Vice Chair, and also in attendance was District 2 Supervisor Sheila Noll, a constant and dedicated environmental steward.
The York River Academy Greenhouse Team members were the committee's special guests and speakers. Under the tutelage of teacher Veronica Warwick and Principal Walter Cross, this impressive group of budding entrepreneurs and environmental advocates spoke about the educational and business initiatives they are currently pursuing. In addition to their greenhouse projects, the team has started their own non-profit organization, selling items they currently develop from plants and vegetables grown in their own greenhouse. We are very excited to partner with their group, and look forward to working to expand their project reach in the future!
