Let's Go Cruising on July 7

Have you been putting off your dream vacation because you don't know where to start in the planning process? Then wait no more! Join AAA travel agent Angel Q. Washington on Saturday, July 7, from 2-3 p.m. at the Yorktown Library to learn tips on how to make your dream cruise vacation come true. Registration is not required. Questions? Explore the World Book Chat on July 14

Share the books you've been reading during the "Explore the World @ Your Library" Adult Summer Reading Program and get ideas from other readers to help fill up your Library Passport! We'll chat from 3-4 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, in the Tabb Library meeting room. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required. A Hike in the Woods on July 17

Join retired Army veteran and hiker Buck Mandeville to hear stories from his latest thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, as well as his quest to hike the three longest trails in the United States. Summer Staycation featuring the Watermen's Museum

All ages are welcome to discover the benefits of planning a "staycation" right here in York County this summer. York County Tourism representatives will help you explore the fun events happening in the area. And a special guest from the Watermen's Museum will give you a sample of the adventure that awaits you there. This program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at the Yorktown Library. Travel Photography 101 on July 24

Take your photography to the next level with photographer Jim Pile on July 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the Yorktown Library. This workshop will cover equipment, design, color/black-and-white considerations, photographing people, as well as covering any questions participants may have. Jim will share photos demonstrating the concepts that will be covered. Each attendee should expect to gain a better understanding of what it takes to create outstanding images, whether they are travelling the world or exploring their own hometowns. Jim Pile, former Director of Photography for VistaGraphics Publishing in Virginia Beach, has created images for as many as 40 magazines in 5 states. During his extensive travels - which includes trips throughout Italy, the British Isles, the Netherlands and Belgium, he has captured a innumerable images.
