In honor of Local Government Education Week, April 1-7, 2018, the York County Public Library is sponsoring a County of the Future Essay Contest. The contest provides York County middle school students the opportunity to explore their vision of York County 50 years in the future, describing transportation, schools, recreation, shopping and health care and offering advice to the County Administrator on how to prepare for the changes.
The contest is open to all York County middle school students. Essays must be typed and be 200-500 words long. Only one essay may be submitted per student. Entries must include the student's name, home address, telephone number and school. Essays must be received at the Tabb or Yorktown Library by Saturday, April 7. Submit entries by email to library_services@yorkcounty.gov, in person at the Tabb or Yorktown Library, or by mail to York County Public Library, 100 Long Green Blvd, Yorktown, VA 23693.
Contest entries will be judged by York County Administrator Neil Morgan. The contest winner will receive a Kindle Fire HD. Questions? Contact the Tabb Library at 757-890-5120.
