[ARCHIVED] RESCHEDULED Virginia Symphony Orchestra

VA Symphony

The Virginia Symphony concert, originally scheduled for September 2, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m. due to anticipated inclement weather. Under the baton of Adam Turner, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra will return to Riverwalk Landing in historic Yorktown for its 21st annual outdoor concert. Visitors are encouraged to pack picnics, bring lawn chairs and blankets, and arrive early for this night of music. The award-winning Fifes and Drums of York Town will take the stage at 6 p.m. and blue ribbons will be awarded to the most creative picnic set-ups prior to the event.

This event is funded by community contributors from organizations, businesses, and individuals along with the following sponsors: York County, York County Arts Commission, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts. The volunteer-run Celebrate Yorktown Committee of the Yorktown Foundation works diligently each year to raise the $24,000 needed to cover the cost of presenting this evening of free music to the community.

Get there early! We anticipate large crowds for this special event and have a few important traffic reminders to keep in mind.

  • Parking is available in the two-level garage on Water St., the York-Poquoson Courthouse, the County Administration Building, York Hall, and other designated public lots throughout town.
  • Handicapped parking is located on the lower level of the Water St. garage.
  • To ease the flow of traffic, no loading of any equipment, chairs, coolers, etc. into vehicles will be permitted during or at the conclusion of the concert at the corners of Water and Ballard St. and Water and Buckner St.
  • The Yorktown Trolley will also be unavailable during and after the concert. Service ends at 5:30 p.m.
