Off the Beaten Shelf

Starting Monday September 13, York County Public Library will have a new monthly teen Anime Club! This will be a fun and relaxed time to get together with fellow anime lovers in middle and high school. We'll have snacks, discussions, and of course, watch anime! For the first Anime Club, we'll be watching My Hero Academia and making candy sushi. Bring your ideas for (age appropriate!) anime we can watch together in the coming months.

There's no registration - just show up at the Tabb Library meeting room at 6 p.m. on Monday September 13 (with your mask on). And if you're looking for some new manga to try out, check out these great choices in the Tabb Library Comics Cave:

• Kingyo Used Books by Seimu Yoshizaki
  Summary: Recounts experiences in a fictional used book store, where patrons find books and manga that help them achieve their dreams. 
• Anima by Natsumi Mukai
  Summary: The Anima are beings who possess animal-like powers. In this alternate universe, they walk among us-shunned by society-as they search for others who have similar traits. Cooro is a crow-like boy who is on a quest to find other Anima. When he meets Husky, a disrespectful boy with a past shrouded in mystery, he finds a kindred spirit who also possesses animal-like powers. Together, they try to gain acceptance in a world cruel to anyone or anything that is different. 
• Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto
  Summary: In another world, ninja are the ultimate power--and in the village of Konohagakure live the stealthiest ninja in the world. But twelve years ago Konohagakure was attached by a fearsome threat-a nine-tailed fox demon which claimed the life of the Hokage, the village champion. Today, peace has returned, and a troublemaking orphan named Uzumaki Naruto is struggling to graduate from the ninja Academy. His goal: to become the next Hokage. But unknown to Naruto and his classmates, within him is a terrifying force.
