The York County Public Library offers summer reading programs for infants/toddlers, children, teens, and adults. The Library offers special events, performances, movies, story times and prizes. All programs are free of charge and open to everyone. Registration is not required to attend programs. Registration is required to participate in the reading programs and to be eligible for prizes.
2018 Infant & Toddler Summer Reading Program
Join the Rock-A-Bye Readers, a summer reading club for infants and toddlers from birth to 24-months-old. Online registration begins June 4 and continues through July 30. Download your activity log, or stop by the library to pick up one. Complete and check off activities in any order. Turn in your completed activity log at your registration library between July 2 and Aug. 10 to receive a new board book for your child.
2018 Children's Summer Reading Program
Reading Takes You Everywhere! is the theme for the 2018 Summer Reading Program for children ages 2-12. Read books, see spectacular live performances, and enjoy programs and activities for all ages! Access the programming guide.
- Online registration begins June 4 and continues through July 30. You can also register in person at the Youth Services desk beginning June 18.
- Reading logs will be available at the library beginning June 18. Use your reading log to record the number of books or hours you've read. After reaching a reading goal, present your reading log at the library and receive a reward. Reading rewards are available June 25 through Aug. 10. Limit one reward per visit.
Read 5 books or 5 hours: Reward from the treasure chest. Read an additional 5 books or 5 hours for a total of 10: Reward from the treasure chest. Read an additional 5 books or 5 hours for a total of 15: Select a book. Read an additional 5 books or 5 hours for a total of 20: Reward from the treasure chest. Read an additional 5 books or 5 hours for a total of 25: Reward from the treasure chest. Read an additional 5 books or 5 hours for a total of 30: Select a book.
2018 Teen Summer Reading Program
Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to join the adventure this summer as we let reading take us everywhere! Complete at least 12 of the 20 adventures on the activity log and receive a prize and an entry in the grand prize drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card. Program guidelines and activity logs are available in the Youth Services Department at the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries beginning June 18. 2018 Adult Summer Reading Program
Learn how Reading Takes You Everywhere this summer with a program just for adults, Explore the World @ Your Library. Your ticket to adventure is available beginning June 25. Visit the Tabb or Yorktown Library between June 18 and Aug. 3 to pickup your Summer Reading Passport.
Complete book and program tasks to fill up your library passport. Read a fiction or nonfiction adult or young adult book that corresponds to one of the destinations. Receive your task completed stamp after a brief conversation with a Reference staff member about the book. Attend library programs that correspond with a passport slot. Immediately after the program, receive a stamp at the Reference desk. Turn in your passport by Wednesday, Aug. 8, to receive grand prize entries corresponding to the number of stamps. Two grand prize winners will be announced on Friday, Aug. 10.
