Special Recreation Camp

General Information

York County's Special Recreation Camp is a summer program designed to provide a variety of enjoyable recreational opportunities for youth with disabilities and/or special needs. Registration is limited.

Registration Dates

April 3 through June 2 or full


June 26 through July 21


Monday - Friday, 9 am to 2 pm


Boys and girls ages 6 - 21 with disabilities are eligible for the camp


Yorktown Elementary


Residents - $275
Non-Residents - $425

The program fees include the following:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Field trips
  • Fun activities
  • Games
  • Movies
  • Special visitors
  • Swimming days

Field Trips

Our field trips will be listed on an activity calendar emailed one (1) week before the first day of camp. The Special Recreation Camp site will not be open on field trip days. Parents are welcome to attend field trips. However, they must provide their own transportation and pay all fees associated with the trip.

In case of inclement weather on outdoor field trip days, participants should call 757-890-3501 ext. 66 before 9 am for cancellation information.
