The York County Historical Museum is located in the lower level of York Hall

Artifact update!! In January 2007, thanks to our
many volunteers over the years, we finished washing the Chiskiack Watch Artifact Collection! The almost 270
boxes of artifacts are now being cataloged by Archaeologist Merry Outlaw.
Also during the winter of 2006-07 the local
Comte de Grasse Chapter, DAR, contracted with the James River Institute for Archaeology to excavate areas
in the Custom House Garden that would be impacted by the drainage work being done to protect the building
from continued flooding. Our wonderful group of artifact washing volunteers led by Lead Volunteer Joe Burke
are now washing those artifacts!
