Water Street, Yorktown
Water
Street was established when the waterfront of Yorktown was surveyed and lots
were designated on either side of the street in 1778. Arrayed along today’s Water Street
are a modest number of businesses, residences, and historic attractions --- a marked
contrast to the collection of wharves, warehouses, stores, and grog houses that were
along the waterfront when Yorktown was a bustling port in the 18th Century.
