SWAN TAVERN

Originally built by "Scotch Tom" Nelson and Joseph Walker in 1722, this popular tavern survived the siege of 1781, but was later destroyed in an ammunition explosion during the occupation of Yorktown by Union forces in the Civil War. The Tavern and its dependencies were reconstructed in 1935 on the original sites and are now operated by a concessionaire of the National Park Service. Swan Tavern Antiques is open Tuesday through Saturday 10-5, Sundays 12:30-5, closed Monday, (757)898-3033.
