THE SMITH HOUSE

A restored house from the 1750s, the Smith House is named for its builder, Edmond Smith, who willed it to his daughter, Mildred. Her husband David Jameson was the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia while his neighbor, Thomas Nelson, Jr. served as governor in 1781. The house is a private residence and is owned by the National Park Services.
