POOR POTTER SITE

The presence of clay, a good harbor, a thriving port and business potential supported a large pottery factory in this area from circa 1720-1745. The factory complex is the largest one known to date in Colonial America. Until funding becomes available for restoration of the site, it will remain protected by the metal structure shown below. For additional information regarding this site contact the National Park Service at (757) 898-2410.
